who is james hart?

James Hart is a Melbourne based illustrator, creator and children’s book maker. He launched into professional illustrating during his last year of studies in 2003. Thanks to the success of his illustrations featuring on the front cover of the popular design magazine Desktop, he was able to secure two large educational publishing clients. Since that time he has worked on many projects from toy designs to stamps (Let’s Get Active series 2009) to book illustration and animation for multiple clients, studios and publishers across Australia, NZ and the UK.

His early publishing work was predominantly in Education, text books and a number of school reader/chapter books, for publishers including: Pearson, Macmillan, John Wiley & Sons, UC Publising, Cengage, Black Dog Books, Simply Lit, Oxford University Press, & Hinkler Books.

From 2013-2015 James worked on the popular animated series of The Day My Butt Went Psycho! (designing characters and props for 2 seasons), at the same time as beginning the first of 13 books for the successful You Choose series by George Ivanoff for Random House Australia.

Since that time James has continued to focus on his passion for illustrating, and even writing, books for children. His award winning illustrations can now be found on successful book series such as Mr Bambuckle’s Remarkables, The Mysterious World of Cosentino, You Choose, Fartboy, Super Geeks, Skydragon and more.

You Choose and Mr Bambuckles Remarkables went on to win YABBA and KOALA awards and continue to be shortlisted each year.
